Carbon capture and storage - demonstration plants

The use of coal and gas in electricity generation currently accounts for 40 per cent of carbon dioxide pollution in the EU. In 10 to 15 years it should be possible to reduce this through the use of new technology to extract polluting gas from the generating plant and store it underground.  The Commission wants to encourage 12 experimental projects to find the best way of doing this.
