Ship Dismantling: EU Strategy

The Commission is calling for better enforcement of EU law prohibiting the export of old ships to developing countries where, if broken up for scrap, they could damage human health and the environment. The Commission also supports the idea of a Ship Recycling Convention on the subject, agreed internationally in mid-2009.
