A new pill which is made up of natural anti-oxidant compounds usually found in the Mediterranean diet is about to be trialled under the leadership of heart failure specialists in Catania, Italy. The pill, which is made up entirely of natural substances and will therefore not need to undergo special drug trials, was developed by specialists working in a biotechnology spin-out company of Cambridge University. The preliminary findings of studies carried out in the UK are said to be ‘very promising’.
