€2,500 New-Car Incentive in Germany

Germany plans to pay people €2,500 when they ditch their old car for a cleaner vehicle as part of a €50bn stimulus package. The offer is open to owners of cars that are at least 9 years old and have been registered in Germany for at least a year. The aim is to both kick-start Europe's largest economy and encourage the purchase of newer, lower-emissions vehicles. Car dealers in Germany say they are hopeful that business will pick up.
