Antioxidants Great for Sales

European money earmarked for environmental projects is not always spent on environmentally friendly plans, claims a pressure group. According to Bankwatch, Poland intends to use €1bn of its cohesion fund earmarked for waste management to build nine incinerators, instead of investing in recycling sites. Only 6% of Poland’s waste is recycled. The European Commission recently announced it intends to invest €105bn in environmentally-friendly projects through cohesion funds for the period 2007-2013. This is three times more than the previous cohesion fund budget.
