Asbestos Trial Begins 

11 February 2010
Some 3,000 people are due to give evidence at an Italian criminal case against the former heads of an asbestos company. The accused are charged with disregarding safety regulations at a number of plants, allegedly resulting in thousands of asbestos-related deaths. A civil case has been linked to the criminal trial, with both the EU and the Italian Government named as civil defendants.
