Aspartame to be Studied Again

24 June 2009
A new study looking at the safety of the artificial sweetener aspartame is due to begin next month. The study, to be carried out by the UK’s Food Standards Agency, will examine if and how aspartame is linked to different conditions such as headaches and upset stomachs, following a number of consumer complaints. The Agency expects the pilot study to take 18 months and is currently in the process of identifying volunteers who are interested in taking part. The results are expected to be published in early 2011.
