Bat Conservation Project Launched

Habitat protection measures have been introduced in France in order to protect endangered bat species. The French LIFE Nature project focuses on 3 of France’s most threatened bat species: the Mediterranean horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus euryale), the Long-fingered bat (Myotis capaccinii) and the Schreiber's bat (Miniopterus schreibersii). The project is forecast to last 4 years, and will involve around 190 volunteers. Europe’s bat populations have declined in recent years, largely due to the deterioration of their natural habitat.
