Bathing Banned After Oil Spill

Mataro City Council in Catalonia, Spain, has closed off a number of beaches and banned people from swimming after an oil spill, which was caused when a ship sank off the coast on 3 October. The spill is said to have spread across two kilometres. This is the second oil spill to affect the area recently. Another spill of unknown origin was detected on 2 September and cleaned up by coastal authorities.
