Blow to Heathrow Runway Protesters

UK: Protests against Heathrow Airport’s third runway will not help the battle against global warming and do not deserve support, says Jim Hansen, director of Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies and a leading environmental scientist. Hansen is one of the world's mostly highly-regarded climate change scientists and has been involved in other environmental protests – but not this one. "I don't think it is helpful to be trying to prevent air flight," Hansen told the UK’s Observer newspaper. "Coal is 80% of the planet's problem. The number one enemy is coal and we should never forget that."
