British Worker Killed by Vehicle

15 June 2009
A UK contractor has pleaded guilty to breaching Health and Safety at Work Regulations after a man was killed by a reversing vehicle. The worker died in 2005 while he was crossing a one-way traffic route. The man had been carrying materials onto a building site. The company responsible pleaded guilty this month and was fined £160,000. Sandy Carmichael, a UK Health and Safety Executive inspector, said that tragic accidents like this could be avoided through ‘better training, planning and awareness.’
