Bulgaria Targets Polluters

Bulgaria’s Environment Minister has suggested introducing community service as punishment for those who pollute residential areas. Discussions are ongoing between the Environment Ministry and the Justice Ministry. Under the proposals, those caught polluting residential areas could be forced to work in situations such as waste processing plants or public cleaning operations. Residential area pollution would include destroying trees and bushes, dropping litter, and the unlawful disposal of waste.
