Bulgaria and Black Sea Pollution

04 June 2009
A joint project between Bulgaria and Finland has been launched to deal with the problem of oil spills in the Black Sea. Representatives of both countries discussed the issue during a recent conference. Scientists believe that a reduction in oil pollution in the region will improve the safety of drinking water and help conservation efforts in the Black Sea. Bulgaria sought help from Finland as it is in a similar situation to that of Bulgaria, with a coastline that borders a country that is not an EU member. Bulgaria hopes to draw up appropriate strategies to effectively deal with the issue.
