Car Scrappage Ends in Greece

Greece’s new socialist government has done away with the car scrappage scheme started by the previous administration. They have argued that a more environmentally friendly measure would be to alter road taxes to reward cleaner vehicles. Those who have already scrapped their cars will be compensated with either 1,000 euros in cash or 500 euros and two cards for unlimited travel on public transport.
