Changes to Irish Chicken Labels

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) wants to see better poultry labelling to help consumers make more informed purchasing choices. The Society says that food manufacturers should use plain and factual packaging to communicate their products. It argues that a label with an image of a chicken on grass for example is misleading if the chicken in question has been reared indoors. While arguing that such changes should be made, the ISPCA believes that more pressure needs to come from consumers.
