Cosmetics Firm to Cut Carbon Footprint

Cosmetic giant L’Oreal has published a series of environmental targets to be met over the next few years, and has promised to half its carbon emissions. Water use and industrial waste will also be halved by 2015 compared with 2005 levels. L’Oreal has not yet measured its water footprint, but says that water use is mainly restricted for cleaning and sterilising. The company also plans to use more green electricity. In France, 80% of nation’s electricity is already “green” as it is produced by nuclear power.
