Courier Thrown from Vehicle

28 December 2009
A courier company based in the UK , Tuffnells Parcels Express Ltd, has to pay £35,000 after a worker broke his leg at one of its distribution centers. The incident took place last year in March, but the final decision was reached by the Magistrates' Court this month. The worker’s job involved unloading, sorting and loading parcels onto the firm's delivery lorries. At one point, when the worker was in the back of a lorry, the driver unexpectedly pulled away from the loading dock. The worker fell from a height of about one meter and broke his thigh bone.
