Cyanide Leak in England

After a cyanide leak that led to the poisoning of thousands of fish in the river Trent, England, the firm concerned has been banned from discharging industrial effluent. The firm specialises in the disposal of hazardous waste, however in this instance, the cyanide killed the bacteria that process the sewage, meaning the waste was only partially treated before it entered the river. A major clean-up operation is underway.
