Cyprus Investing in Solar Power

Cyprus leads the EU when it comes to installing solar power panels, says Cypriot Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides. Over half of the country’s hotels for example have solar powered water heating systems. Mr Paschalides claims that Cyprus has a long tradition in using renewable sources of energy, which dates back to the 1930s. The Cypriot Government recently prepared an Action Plan for the period 2009-2013 in order to further promote safe, clean sources of energy that protect the environment.
