Czechs Approve Renewables Plan

19 November 2009
The Czech government has approved a new plan to give state support to renewable energy sources in 2010. The Czech Republic has one of the lowest rates in the EU for the use of renewable energy – only 4% - and this plan aims to raise this figure to 13% by 2020. The government also approved an amendment to the law on atmosphere protection which will raise the minimum share of biofuels in diesel from the current 4.5% to 6.3% and in petrol from the current 3.5% to 4.5%.
