Czech Water Treatment Inadequate

Despite receiving more than a third of total investment in environmental protection in 2008, wastewater treatment in the Czech Republic remains inadequate, according to a recent report. The Czech Republic’s Supreme Audit Office has warned that as many as 314 urban areas are in breach of the EU’s urban wastewater treatment directive and has admitted that the country will not meet the requirements of the directive by the December 2010 deadline.
