Company restructuring can have a major impact on workers’ health, claims a report from the University of Bremen, Germany. The report says that job insecurity caused by restructuring can often lead to burnout, loss of concentration, loss of self-esteem and underperformance. Chronic illnesses can also develop as a direct result. The report suggests that management should use a more sensitive approach in dealing with redundancies, and offer their staff advice. The scientists studied a hospital and 5 major private companies based in Germany, the UK and Sweden.
