Dutch Fight Against Flooding

An ambitious plan is underway in The Netherlands to protect the country from flooding. The project, stretching more than 20 kilometres from The Hague, will see more than 18 million cubic metres of sand poured onto a new coastal band of dunes. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2011. The Netherlands is acutely sensitive to climate change because it is situated in a low-lying delta. Rising sea levels present a real danger to the Netherlands.
