Egg Fraud in UK

The owner of an egg-packing company in the UK has been jailed after passing off battery hen eggs as free range. A government agency investigation found that the owner was importing battery eggs from France, Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany and branding them as free-range and organic. UK retailers have phasing out the sale of battery eggs for a number of years, ahead of a European ban that comes into force in 2012.
