Electric Cars in Ireland

Electric vehicles will be on sale in Ireland by 2011, following an agreement between the Irish Government, the electricity supplier ESB and car manufacturer Renault-Nissan. The agreement aims to transform the country’s streets and cut carbon emissions. The initiative will also help ESB to power an emissions-free transport system. The introduction of electric vehicles will provide employment opportunities and will open the way for greener transport in Europe, said ESB’s Chief Executive.
