Fatality at UK Scrapyard

A company in the UK has admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 after a man died at a scrapyard. The accident occurred when the vehicle he was in was crushed by a mechanical grab. Officials found that while attempts were made to warn the grab operator, these instructions were misinterpreted. They also found that warning notices, clear communication of site rules and the use of high visibility clothing were lacking.
