Food Labelling Study

Traffic-light labeling, which uses red, amber and green to indicate how nutritious food is, does not lead to healthier consumer choices, claims a new study. The results, published in Health Promotion International, found that the introduction of traffic-light labels did not have a significant impact on the selection of products. Traffic light labelling, which has been trialed in a number of countries, still divides opinion, with some arguing that it provides customers with a clear identifiable message. Its detractors claim however that the system is too simplistic.
