Cases of Campylobacteriosis and Salmonella fell during 2008, according to an annual report from EFSA. These two diseases nonetheless remain the most common zoonotic diseases in humans in the EU. The report also identifies “an important decline” of Salmonella Enteritis in laying hen flocks. This is significant as Salmonella Enteritis is the strain that most commonly affects humans.
