Food Poisoning at Portuguese School

Around seventy schoolchildren in Oliveira de Azeméis, near Porto in Portugal have fallen ill with symptoms similar to food poisoning. While it is as yet unclear whether the illness was caused by a virus or rotten food, staff at the S. Sebastião hospital where the majority of schoolchildren are being treated say the symptoms are consistent with food poisoning. Eggs used in the making of the fish dish ‘Bacalhau à Brás’ have been suspected as the most likely cause of the outbreak.
