France: Water Shortages by 2050

France’s national observatory on the effects of global warming (ONERC) has warned that France could experience severe water supply shortages by the middle of the century. It predicts a shortfall of two billion m3/year, or 14% of existing demand. ONERC also warned of the effects of water shortage on sectors such as agriculture and tourism and estimated that the damage could cost tens of billions of euros.
