French Carbon Tax Plans
06 January 2010
French proposals for a new carbon tax have been halted. The plan, which was due to be introduced in the New Year, has been blocked by the Constitutional Council of France, which claims there are too many exemptions for pollution-causing companies. The council claimed that 93% of industrial emissions, with the exception of fuel use, could be exempted. The French government will now redraft the proposal.
