GE & Renewable Energy in E. Europe

Eastern Europe is a ‘huge opportunity’ when it comes to renewable energy projects, says Rod Christie, GE Energy's President for Eastern Europe and Russia. The recent EU agreement on the climate change package means that Member States will have to raise their share of renewable energy; and ‘Christie predicts there will be “a lot of activity” in some of the eastern Member States. Christie thinks that Romania in particular has the “best renewables legislation potential”. Given the current financial crisis however, solutions will have to be found to encourage private companies to invest in the region.
