GM Crop Cultivation

The EU member states rejected a proposal of the European Commission which was asking Austria and Hungary to allow the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) maize on their territory. Twenty-two member states voted against, while Estonia, Finland, Netherlands and the UK supported the Commission. Other member states like Greece and France also refused to allow the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) maize and a similar voting result is expected in their cases.
