GM Fish a Risk, Says Study

A study from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden has cautioned against the commercial breeding of genetically modified fish, arguing that available research suggests GM fish could pose a risk to human health and natural breeds. The study revealed evidence that transgenic species have a higher tolerance to toxins and that these accumulated toxins would ultimately be ingested by consumers. Moreover, the study warned that higher levels of growth hormone used in commercial aquaculture could affect humans.
