Greek River Polluters Named

Major polluters of the Asopos River in central Greece, who were identified in a 2008 official report, have been publicly named for the first time by an MEP. The names, which were not previously revealed, include former officials accused of issuing operating licenses to polluting firms. The MEP said that the conclusions of the report are serious and call for action. He also accused state environment inspectors of covering up environmental crimes committed.
