Diet Can Reduce Methane from Cows

UK confectioner Cadbury is behind an effort to produce more ‘eco-friendly’ milk cows that burp less and produce less CO2. The company sees this rather original approach as a crucial step in reducing the carbon footprint of its milk chocolate. Studies have shown that the average cow is responsible for the equivalent annual carbon emissions of an average family car. A slight change in diet could help reduce methane emissions, and Cadbury has sent farmers a guide on how to achieve ‘low carbon dairy farming’.
