Illegal Construction Blacklist Used

23 November 2009
A building firm in the UK has criticised for using an illegal blacklist of construction workers to vet employees for a history of violence and drug or alcohol abuse. The company in question has claimed that the list was used to ensure the safety of people working on our sites, and not to blacklist people because of trade union membership. The company behind the list was recently prosecuted for breach of data protection laws, and all firms involved were investigated by the Information Commissioner.
