Inquiry Sparks Food Poisoning Rise

29 October 2009
The high profile public inquiry, which is currently investigating the circumstances leading to the September 2005 E.coli outbreak in Wales – after which a total of 157 cases were indentified - has led to a rise in the number of reported food poisoning cases. The number of incidents of food poisoning reported to health boards was 631 in June, as compared to 234 in January of this year. Experts believe that the increased awareness of food poisoning generated by the inquiry has driven up the number of cases that are reported.
