Irish Food Labelling Survey

Irish consumers say that food labelling schemes combining GDA (Guideline Daily Amounts) information with colour-coding is confusing, according to a new Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) survey. GDAs give the proportions of calories, sugar, salt, fat, and saturated fat contained in the food as a percentage of the maximum advised daily intake. In contrast to consumers surveyed recently in the UK however, Irish respondents were less enthusiastic about a system that featured colour-coded GDAs.
