Irish Organic Sector Healthy

Ireland’s organic food sector continues to grow at a faster rate than conventional food, attendees at the National Organic Conference heard. One major issue for Irish organic producers however is sourcing organic ingredients from Ireland. Nonetheless, the Agriculture Minister told attendees that the Irish retail market for organic food was now worth €104m per year. The market in Europe is worth over €16bn, with largest sales in Germany, the UK, France and Italy. Organic food also enjoys a high market share in countries such as Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden.
