Smokers are not only at risk from the cigarettes they smoke themselves but also from second-hand smoke of smokers around them, claim Italian researchers. They claim that somebody who smoked fourteen cigarettes daily would consume an extra 2.6 cigarettes because of their own second-hand smoke. This research underlines the danger of working in an enclosed space with a heavy smoker. It is widely accepted that second-hand smoking is dangerous and can contribute to lung cancer and other serious diseases.
