Two workers, aged 36 and 40, died this week while they were trying to clean a water purification system in Riva Ligure, a town situated 70 miles southwest of Genoa. The two workers were part of a four-man team that had been hired by the municipal authority. The two workers became trapped and were unable to escape. A third worker was hospitalised after attempting to save his colleagues in the oxygen-deficient atmosphere. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
