Liability Insurance at Work

Obtaining financial compensation for work-related injuries in Malta can be difficult because employers are not obliged to have liability insurance, lawyers have warned. Liability insurance enables employers to meet the cost of compensation for employees’ injuries or illness. The issue is most serious for those working for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), where the rate of accidents is about double the number of accidents in larger companies. Work-related stress and emerging risks such as chemical accidents are a growing concern for both employees and employers.
