The achievement of low-carbon growth will be a major topic of discussion when leaders of the world's top 20 economies (G20) sit down in London later today (April 2). Amid the economic turmoil, there is mounting pressure for what environmental campaigners are calling a ‘new green deal’. They want to see environmental considerations at the centre of any global economic stimulus package. A global coalition of environmental groups that includes the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the WWF wants the G20 to pledge “one percent of global GDP to investments that will build an inclusive and green economy".
