Malta’s Green Christmas

Some 500 bulbs used to decorate a 50-foot Christmas tree in a public square in Malta this Christmas were powered by waste. A modified landfill gas generator was used to convert gas generated from waste in a nearby landfill. The gas was collected in large gas cylinders and then used to power the generator. The aim of the tree was to demonstrate how energy could be generated from waste.
