A reduction in the consumption of meat and high quality cheese is expected in Europe over the next few years due to the economic crisis. The European Commission’s Agricultural Outlook Report states that beef, lamb and cheese consumption is likely to decline. Chicken and pork are unlikely to be affected however thanks to competitive prices and stronger consumer preference. The Report also predicts that falling energy prices could affect crops grown for biofuels and lead to falling land prices.
