Most Feared Disaster: Flooding

Flooding is the most feared disaster in Europe, according to a European civil protection study. For coastal countries such as Malta, however, marine pollution is the biggest concern. Unsurprisingly, land-locked countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria are much less concerned about marine pollution. Countries with warmer climates and strong forestry industries also mentioned forest fires as a chief worry. Finally, the survey found that scientists were the most trusted source of information about disasters.
