Most GM Tests in Spain

Some 42% of all outdoor experiments and tests on genetically modified agriculture in Europe are carried out in Spain. As a result, some leading environmentalists have warned that the Spanish government is causing a risk to public health. In particular they are concerned that the procedure for authorising GM agricultural experiments is not rigorous enough and that only 7 out of 46 members of the National Biosafety Committee, which gives the green light to GM projects, are scientists.
