New Lithuania Power Plant

25 February 2010
A new €140 million combined heat and power plant in Klaipeda, Lithuania is expected to be completed by January 2013. This will be the first waste-to-energy plant in the Baltic states. The new plant will use municipal and industrial wastes and biomass as fuels. The transfer to combined heat and power generation is designed to increase energy efficiency compared with the separate generation of heat. This type of plant is also expected to generate a great deal less CO2.
