The Maltese Department for Environmental Health has found that while a batch of milk it was investigating had turned sour before its use by date, it was nonetheless fit for human consumption. Officials found the milk to be slightly contaminated with the bacteria enterobacteriacea, but concluded that the contamination was not in sufficient quantities to pose a risk to human health. An investigation was launched following a number of complaints on 17 August.
